Description

Sparking Dialogue Through Drama uses the performing arts to start family conversations about socially relevant topics. Designed for adults and teens to attend together, this program allows for the exploration of meaningful stories at the core of issues in local, national, and global communities.

Sparking Dialogue Through Drama offers socially relevant theatrical experiences for teen and family audiences. This program allows for the exploration of meaningful stories of identity, history, and culture at the core of issues in local, national, and global communities.

This year, AMFA presents Breaking the Box, a journey through time unmasking the system of deception that imprisons America. Breaking the Box lifts the veil on our justice system by presenting real-life stories, flashes of memories, and music.

Part documentary theatre and part fiction, Breaking the Box features local and national impressions on race, education, and the “school-to-prison pipeline” while presenting vibrant, living snapshots that ask us how the next generation will move forward.

Each performance will conclude with a brief talk-back moderated in collaboration with Ozark Living Newspaper Theatre.

Due to the subject matter, the recommended audience age range for this program is high school students to adults.
